Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team continued their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) homestand on Friday evening by downing the visiting Lynx of Lesley University by a 92-83 margin in league action. With the victory the Fighting Tigers move to 9-7 overall on the year including a 4-2 mark in conference play while the Lynx drop to 2-11 overall with a 1-4 record versus NAC opponents.
In a fast-paced affair, the Fighting Tigers led wire-to-wire as the backcourt combination of sophomore guard
Kobe Long, Rochester, N.Y., McQuaid Jesuit High School, who scored a game high of 27 points along with six rebounds, four assists and two steals and senior guard
Andre Starks, Rochester, N.Y., Fairport High School/Corning Community College, who tallied 21 points, four steals, four rebounds and three assists continually turned back the visitor's comeback efforts down the stretch by connecting on 17-of-17 free throw attempts between them.
Cobleskill also received strong efforts from senior center
Markel Jenkins, Elmira, N.Y., Elmira High School/Corning Community College, who posted a double/double with 10 points, 12 rebounds and two assists and from sophomore swingman
Jeremy Rosario, Colonie, N.Y., Colonie High School, who filled the box score with 10 points, six rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot on the evening.
The Fighting Tigers will continue their homestand on Saturday afternoon when they host the Hornets of Vermont State University-Lyndon in league action at the Iorio Gymnasium with tip-off scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
