Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team opened their weekend North Atlantic Conference (NAC) homestand on Friday evening with a decisive mauling of the visiting Lynx of Lesley University by a 104-20 margin. With the victory the NAC Western Division leading Fighting Tigers improved to 13-1 overall including a 6-0 record in league play while the Lynx dropped to 0-12 overall and 0-5 in NAC action.
The Fighting Tigers opened the game on a 39-to-1 run and never looked back as the home team dominated the backboards by a 70-29 margin while forcing 22 Lynx turnovers while holding the visitors to 8-for-57 from the field, 14.0%, on the evening.
The Orange & Black were led by junior forward
Cara Walker, Phelps, N.Y., Mildlakes High School, who posted the team's first triple/double of the season with 11 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists on the night while senior center
Logan Thayne, Hoosick Falls, N.Y. Hoosick Falls High School, posted a double/double with 25 points and 12 rebounds.
The home team also received strong outings from first-year guard
Kyra Pence, Randolph, N.Y., Randolph High School, scored a season high of 13 points to go with six rebounds and junior guard/forward
Antonia May, Amsterdam, N.Y., Amsterdam High School, who scored 12 points to go with five rebounds and two assists.
Cobleskill will close out their conference home stand on Saturday January 13 when they host the Hornets of Vermont State University-Lyndon beginning at 3:00 p.m.
