SUNY Cobleskill Men's Basketball Loses 75-67 Decision to SUNY Poly to Open Semester

Fighting Tiger Men's Basketball Falls at Home to Conference Rival SUNY Poly 75-67

Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team returned to action after their winter break on Tuesday evening falling to the visiting Wildcats of the SUNY Polytechnic Institute in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action 75-67. With the loss the Fighting Tigers are now 8-7 overall including a 3-2 record in league play while the Wildcats improve to 8-7 overall with a 4-1 mark versus NAC opponents.

In a game of runs the Fighting Tigers found them trailing the visitors 33-23 at the half before roaring out of the locker room to hit five-straight three-pointers to tie the contest at 35-35 with 16:48 remaining. However, that would be as close as the home team would come as the Wildcats would outscore their hosts 29-12 to take a 64-47 lead with 5:16 left in regulation then weather a furious Cobleskill comeback effort to secure the victory.

Fighting Tiger sophomore guard Kobe Long, Rochester, N.Y., McQuaid Jesuit High School, led the team in scoring with 18 points to go with four rebounds and four steals while senior center Markel Jenkins, Elmira, N.Y., Elmira High School/Corning Community College, had 10 points, six rebounds and a blocked shot on the night. Senior guard Andre Starks, Rochester, N.Y., Fairport High School/Corning Community College, also had 10 points on the evening along with six assists and four rebounds.

The Orange & Black will return to action on Friday January 12 when they host the Lynx of Lesley University in conference play at the Iorio Gymnasium beginning at 5:30 p.m.
