Syracuse, NY: The SUNY Cobleskill women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to SUNY ESF on Saturday afternoon at Tully Field. The Fighting Tigers were unable to find the back of the net, despite a strong effort from their defensive unit and goalkeeper.

Junior
Jessica Carney (Hopkinton, NH) led Cobleskill with two shots, while
Erin Hensel (Niskayuna, NY) and
Carson Collins (Deerfield, NY/Alvirne) each registered one attempt. However, generating offensive opportunities proved difficult, as the team managed just four shots, with only one on target throughout the match.
Â
First-year keeper
Samantha Rotundo (New Egypt, NJ) was a bright spot for the Tigers, making a season-high 19 saves in a busy afternoon. Rotundo's performance included several impressive stops, keeping the Tigers within striking distance of the hosts for much of the contest.
Â
The Cobleskill backline, anchored by
Caleigh Chase (Cortland, NY) and
Kayleigh Bryant (Schenevus, NY), faced constant pressure as SUNY ESF registered 25 total shots, including 21 on target. Despite their resilience, the Tigers ultimately couldn't hold off the offensive onslaught from ESF.
Â
The Fighting Tigers will look to regroup when they return to action on Sunday, October 20, as they host North Atlantic Conference foe VTSU-Johnson at 2:30 p.m. at the Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.
