Cobleskill Routs Delhi in Conference Opener, 100-30

Logan Thayne secures her ninth straight double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds

Cobleskill, NY: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team opened their North Atlantic Conference schedule in dominant fashion, defeating SUNY Delhi 100-30 on Tuesday evening at home. The Fighting Tigers' relentless defense and high-powered offense controlled the game from start to finish.

Logan Thayne (Hoosick Falls, NY) led the charge with her ninth consecutive double-double, recording 22 points and 13 rebounds in just 21 minutes while shooting 8-of-14 from the floor and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free-throw line. Annie Canales (North Adams, MA/Hoosac Valley) was electric from beyond the arc, connecting on 4-of-5 three-pointers to tally 14 points, along with two rebounds and an assist. Antonia May (Amsterdam, NY) filled the stat sheet with 18 points, seven assists, and seven steals while shooting 50% from the field. Nana Rojas (Greenwich, NY) contributed 10 points and four steals off the bench, and Taylor Meacham (Berne, NY/BKW) added nine points, five rebounds, and six steals while anchoring the defense.

Cobleskill dominated the stat sheet, shooting 40.9% from the field compared to Delhi's 30.0%, and out-rebounding the Broncos 55-31. The Fighting Tigers forced 35 turnovers, converting them into 52 points, while committing just six themselves. Cobleskill's bench provided 42 points to Delhi's four, highlighting their depth. They also outpaced the Broncos in transition, scoring 35 fast-break points to Delhi's four.

The Tigers set the tone early, jumping out to a 10-2 lead at the 6:01 mark after a Kyra Pence (Randolph, NY) floater assisted by May. A three-pointer from Canales, courtesy of a Thayne assist, extended the lead to 17-2 with 4:29 left in the first quarter. Though both teams struggled to score in the closing minutes, Cobleskill ended the period with a 20-9 advantage.

In the second quarter, Cobleskill went on an 11-0 run, sparked by a Canales three-pointer, pushing their lead to 31-11 at the 6:07 mark. A turnaround jumper by Rojas helped maintain the margin, and a late three-pointer by Talia Washington (Schenectady, NY) gave the Tigers a commanding 40-19 halftime lead.

The Fighting Tigers continued to dominate in the third, opening with a 22-0 run fueled by stifling defense and fast-break points to lead 62-19 midway through the quarter. Canales' three-pointer stretched the lead to 69-22 before Cobleskill entered the fourth ahead 69-23.

The final period mirrored the rest of the game, with Cobleskill embarking on a 26-2 run, extending their lead to 95-25. The Broncos were held scoreless for six minutes, underscoring the Tigers' defensive intensity. Cobleskill sealed the win in emphatic fashion, hitting the century mark for a 100-30 victory.

Next up, the Fighting Tigers will hit the road to face defending national champions and number one ranked New York University on Friday, December 6, with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
