Marcy, NY:Â The Cobleskill men's lacrosse team couldn't overcome a slow start to SUNY Poly on the road in a 21-5 loss on Tuesday night in North Atlantic Conference action.

The Wildcats got things started 40 seconds into the game when Michael Baker found the back of the net to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. SUNY Poly used that momentum to jump out to a 6-0 lead before Trevor Masocco (Eden, NY) assisted freshman
Alex Baker (Guilford, VT) to put the Fighting Tigers on the scoreboard to end the first quarter down 6-1.

Poly pressed their advantage in the second quarter and scored two unanswered goals on Cobleskill. The Tigers answered back thanks to a man-up goal by senior attackman
Sean D'Amaro (Northport, NY) at the 10:27 mark. After that, Cobleskill struggled to spark their offense and went into halftime trailing 14-2.

At the half, Baker led the Tigers with a goal and an assist with D'Amaro adding a goal as well.

The third quarter saw a back-and-forth game with plenty of action on both ends of the field. Each team found the back of the net only once during the quarter with
Albert Sippio (Syracuse, NY) scoring the goal for the Tigers.

Cobleskill couldn't overcome the late deficit in the fourth quarter as Poly went on to win 21-5. Baker and Sippio both added goals for the Fighting Tigers.

Alex Baker was a bright spot for the Fighting Tigers finishing the game with two goals, an assist and one caused turnover. Senior
Albert Sippio added two goals, an assist, two ground balls and 1-2 in faceoffs.

Freshman goalie
James Meier (Guilderland, NY) registered 14 saves for the Fighting Tigers. Masocco won eleven faceoffs (11-19) and added seven ground balls and one assist. D'Amaro added a goal and four ground balls.

Poly outshot Cobleskill 53-24 (35-17 sog). The hosts picked up 42 ground balls compared to Cobleskill's 25. The Wildcats held a slim advantage in faceoffs 16-14.

Cobleskill will be in action next on Saturday, April 6
th at 12:00 PM as they travel to MCLA in North Adams, MA for a NAC road game.
