New Paltz, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill baseball team hit the road on Wednesday afternoon to lose in non-league action to the host Hawks of SUNY New Paltz by a 4-2 margin. With the loss the Fighting Tigers are now 12-19 overall on the year while the Hawks improve to 21-11 overall.
Cobleskill's only offense on a day when each team's pitching staffs controlled the action came in the top of the sixth inning when senior right fielder
Samuel Gutierrez, Queens, N.Y., Martin Van Buren High School/Queensborough Community College, singled and scored when sophomore designated hitter
Scott Renk, Limerick, Pa., Spring-Ford High School, blasted a two-run homer to tie the score at 2-2.
However, the Fighting Tiger bullpen could not hold the Hawks in check down the stretch as New Paltz scored runs in the seventh and the eighth to secure the victory.
Cobleskill will return to Fighting Tiger Field on Thursday April 25 when they host the Pioneers of Utica College for a non-league solo contest with first pitch scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
