Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill baseball team returned to Fighting Tiger Field on Thursday afternoon to maul the visiting Pioneers of Utica College 13-3 in a non-conference meeting. With the victory the Fighting Tigers move to 13-19 overall on the year while the Pioneers fall to 10-21 overall on the campaign.
Leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning the Fighting Tigers broke the game open with five runs in the frame highlighted by a two-run double by first-year catcher
Korin Laurilla, East Greenbush, N.Y., Columbia High School and sacrifice flies by senior third baseman
David Flora, Windsor, N.Y., Windsor High School/Herkimer Community College, and junior first baseman
Dylan Pohl, East Meadow, N.Y., East Meadow High School.
Senior reliever
Jordan Stone, Cohoes, N.Y., Cohoes High School, earned the win an outing of 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief with two strikeouts as Cobleskill relievers worked the final seven innings allowing the Pioneers only one earned run to cement the victory.
Offensively, the Fighting Tiger offense pounded out 13 hits on the afternoon led by
Korin Laurilla who was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, two walks, two RBI and a run scored,
David Flora who was 1-for-4 with a double and three RBI,
Dylan Pohl who went 1-for-2 with a walk, a double, two runs scored and two RBI and sophomore left fielder
Logan Firment, Andes, N.Y., South Kortright High School, who was 3-for-4 with a walk, three stolen bases, two runs scored and an RBI.
The Fighting Tigers will next return to North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action over the weekend traveling to Marcy, N.Y. for a three-game series with the Wildcats of the SUNY Polytechnic Institute with a solo contest on Friday April 26 beginning at 3:00 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday April 27 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
