Cobleskill's Postseason Comes to an end with 13-1 loss to Thomas

The Fighting Tigers Fall Short Against Thomas College at Day 2 of NAC Tournament

Bangor, ME:  The Cobleskill softball team suffered a 13-1 loss to Thomas College in the North Atlantic Conference Tournament at Husson University to wrap up their 2024 postseason play.

In a day where Cobleskill struggled to get their offense going, senior Emily Lutz (Ellenville, NY) led the Fighting Tigers finishing 2-for-3 while first year Kylie Rattigan (Poughkeepsie, NY) finished the game going 2-for-4.  Kailee DiGiacco (Spencerport, NY) remained swinging a hot bat from the day before as she went 2-for-3 on the day.  First year Madelynn Orosz (Seymour, CT) recorded the loss for Cobleskill as she pitched 4.1 innings giving up six hits and seven runs.

The terriers of Thomas College used a hot start to jump out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning.  Maddie Rock got the day started as she singled to right field that drove home the first run of the game.  Then the visitors capitalized on a Cobleskill error that scored two more runs and pushed their lead to 3-0. The Fighting Tiger found contact with their bats but couldn't produce anything on the scoreboard.

Thomas College used a productive fifth and sixth inning to push their lead to 8-0 over Cobleskill.  The Fighting Tigers found life in the bottom of the sixth inning when Rattigan and Alexis Miranda (Nashua, NH) both singled to left field to put runners on second and third. Then it was Mackenzie Wendelken (Stuyvesant, NY) who hit a sacrifice fly ball to left field that drove home Rattigan for the Tigers first run of the game.  It looked as if Cobleskill could make a run, but the terriers defense answered the bell and threw out Jenna Smyczynski (East Aurora, NY) for the final out of the inning.

In the seventh inning, Thomas used another big run to extend their lead to 13-1 and put the game out of reach for the Fighting Tigers.  Thomas College would win 13-1.

With the loss, the Fighting Tigers have been eliminated from the NAC Tournament.
