Game One vs. McDaniel College
Westminster, Md: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team faced a tough challenge on Saturday, dropping a 3-0 decision to McDaniel College at the Gill Center in Westminster, Md. The Fighting Tigers, battled throughout but ultimately came up short with set scores of 25-16, 25-22, and 25-16.
Cobleskill got a strong offensive showing from
Emma Hinze (Altenburg, Mo/Saxony Lutheran), who notched a team-high 10 kills while hitting .526 for the match.
Kathleen Smart (Nashville, Tenn./PopeJohn Paul II Prep) added four kills and two service aces, while setter
Baylee Kirschberg (Lindenhurst, NY) dished out 11 assists and tallied seven digs. Defensively,
Jojo Haycock (Bowie, Md) chipped in with four digs and kept the team steady on the backline.
The Tigers showed resilience in the second set after falling behind 12-3, sparking a rally behind kills from Hinze and Smart, along with an ace from
Tori Harrington (Esperance, NY/Schoharie), closing the gap to 16-14. However, late errors and strong serves from McDaniel allowed the Green Terror to close out the set 25-22. Despite their efforts to gain momentum in the third set, Cobleskill couldn't overcome McDaniel's balanced attack.

Game Two vs. Notre Dame of Maryland University
In their encore match, the SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team fell to Notre Dame of Maryland University in straight sets (25-10, 30-28, 25-13).
Emma Hinze led the Fighting Tigers with 10 kills, eight digs, three block assists, and a service ace, while
Kathleen Smart added nine kills and six digs.
Baylee Kirschberg had a standout performance, contributing 22 assists and 15 digs.
Cobleskill struggled to find their rhythm early, as Notre Dame opened the first set with a commanding 12-5 lead. Despite a late kill from Smart, assisted by Kirschberg, the Fighting Tigers couldn't regain momentum, and Notre Dame closed out the set on a 6-point run to take it 25-10.
The second set was a tighter contest. After trailing 5-0 early, Cobleskill rallied back, tying the set at 16-16 with a series of kills from
Hallie Gasner (Middleburgh, NY) and
Ciarra Jager (Stephentown, NY/New Lebanon), both assisted by Kirschberg. The Fighting Tigers fought hard and even held set points at 23-22 and 24-23, but Notre Dame clawed back to force extra points. A late kill from Hinze tied the set at 27-27, but two costly errors allowed Notre Dame to escape with a 30-28 win.
The third set saw the Fighting Tigers falter again as Notre Dame surged to a 17-1 lead, sealing the match with a 25-13 victory.
