Cobleskill, NY: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team faced a tough doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at the Iorio Gymnasium, dropping both matches to SUNY Potsdam and Smith College in straight sets.
Match 1: SUNY Cobleskill vs. SUNY Potsdam
In their first match of the day, Cobleskill lost 3-0 (14-25, 18-25, 18-25) to SUNY Potsdam. Despite some moments of strong play, the Fighting Tigers couldn't keep pace with Potsdam's efficient attack.
Cobleskill's
Emma Hinze (Altenburg, MO) continued her strong start to the season as she led the way with 11 kills, but the team struggled with errors throughout the game.
Hallie Gasner (Middleburgh, NY) contributed seven kills with a solid .429 hitting percentage, while
Kathleen Smart (Nashville, Tenn.) recorded eight kills but was hampered by nine errors.
Second-year Setter
Baylee Kirschberg (Lindenhurst, NY) tallied an impressive 25 assists and four digs, while libero Jojo Haycock (Bowie, MD) anchored the defense with seven digs.

Match 2: SUNY Cobleskill vs. Smith College
Cobleskill's second match of the day ended in a 3-0 loss (13-25, 16-25, 12-25) to an undefeated Smith College squad. The Fighting Tigers struggled to find their rhythm against Smith's experience offense.
Once again, it was
Emma Hinze that led Cobleskill in kills with four as well as two solo blocks.
Kathleen Smart added three kills and five digs, while
Ciarra Jager (Stephentown, NY) contributed four kills.
Baylee Kirschberg once again led the Fighting Tigers in assists as she provided 11 assists while chipping in five digs, and first-year
Maya Cardenas-Powell (Portland, OR) had four digs from the back row.
Smith's Abby Hunt led all players with 12 kills and a .458 hitting percentage, while Mia Etheridge had 6 kills with an impressive .857 hitting percentage. Smith's aggressive serving was a challenge for the Tigers, with Claudia Poehlmann notching 6 service aces.

Cobleskill will be in action next on September 13
th, as they travel to McDaniel College for the McDaniel Quad Match. They will face Mount Aloysius College at 5:00 p.m. in the opening game of the quad match.
