Utica, NY – The SUNY Cobleskill men's indoor track and field team opened their 2025-26 season on Saturday at the Utica Holiday Classic, posting competitive performances across sprints, distance, throws, and jumps in their first meet of the indoor campaign.
In distance,
Nik Recore (Peru, NY) led the Tigers in the 5,000 meters, finishing ninth with a time of 16:17.04. Sprint events featured
Patrick Ponzo (Albany, NY) posting the team's top finish in the 60 meters, running 7.39 seconds for 21st place, while
Zander Fortune ran 7.79 seconds for 49th. In the 200 meters, Ponzo placed 34th in 24.15 seconds and
Zachary Russell (Deposit, NY) ran 25.24 seconds for 53rd.
Charles Cooper (Connetquot, NY) and
Andrew Rimes (Walden, NY) ran the 400 meters, finishing 30th and 29th with times of 57.40 and 57.29 seconds, respectively. The 4x400-meter relay team of
Uriel Lopez Navarro (Brewster, NY),
Antonio Gonzalez (Niskayuna, NY), Rimes, and Cooper executed a solid effort to finish sixth overall in 3:53.77.
Cobleskill's throwers made notable contributions. In the weight throw,
Will Mann (Pawling, NY) led with a 20th-place toss of 13.80 meters (45-3½), followed by
Cal Marks (Elmira, NY) at 13.05 meters (42-9¾) for 24th. Mann also led the Tigers in the shot put, placing 16th with a throw of 12.32 meters (40-5). Other Tiger throwers included
Jesus Sarda (Colonie, NY) in 21st with 11.79 meters (38-8¼),
Connor Rinas (Ontario County, NY) in 30th at 11.11 meters (36-5½),
Cal Marks in 33rd at 11.07 meters (36-4), and
Mark Temp (Richmondville, NY) in 49th with 9.77 meters (32-0¾).
In the jumps,
Zachary Russell was the Tigers' top performer in the long jump, placing 31st with a leap of 5.68 meters (18-7¾).
