COLLEGEVILLE, PA: Two SUNY Cobleskill athletes have earned spots at the regional level after a season of personal bests and record-chasing. Senior
Dory Gosselin and freshman William Mann will compete at the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Championships on Wednesday and Thursday, May 13–14, at Patterson Track, Ursinus College, Collegeville, Pa.
The AARTFC Championships gather NCAA Division III programs from the Metro, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, and Niagara Regions for a two-day event. Field events run alongside track competitions each day.
Gosselin, a senior thrower, qualified in the discus with a 36.38-meter (119-4) throw at the RPI Under the Lights Invitational. She aims to break the school record of 37.77 meters (123-11), set by Vicky Pasche in 2001. The record has stood for over 20 years, and Gosselin will try to set a new mark when women's discus starts at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 14.
Mann has already made his mark in his first college season. He set a school record in the shot put at the same meet with a 14.77-meter (48-5½) throw, surpassing the AARTFC qualifying standard of 14.60 meters. He will compete in the men's shot put also at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Each day, field events begin after an inspection window in the morning. Admission costs $10 for adults, while students and children can enter for free. Tickets can be bought online in advance.
