Ithaca, NY: The SUNY Cobleskill men's track and field team competed at the Robert J. Kane Invitational hosted at Cornell University on Saturday.

In the distance events,
Nik Recore (Peru, NY) led the Tigers with a seventh-place finish in the 5000 meters with a time of 16:43.87. For the 60-meter hurdles, junior
Kameron Cusmano (Oakfield, NY/Oakfield-Alabama) and first-year
Zachary Russell (Deposit, NY) placed 11
th and 15
th respectively, with Cusmano crossing the line with a time of 9.24 seconds and Russell at 9.7 seconds. Â

In spirits, second-year runner
Gregory McDonald (Wells, ME) led the Tigers with a 28
th place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.3, good enough for first in his heat. Â
Patrick Ponzo (Albany, NY) placed 36
th with a time of 7.5, third in his heat, while
Allen Simms (Ithaca, NY) and
Quinn Service placed 50
th and 52
nd with times of 7.69 and 7.72.

In middle distance, the Tigers received efforts from
Antonio Gonzalez (Niskayuna, NY),
Charles Cooper (Connetquot, NY) and Russell. Russell placed seventh in the 1000 meters with a time of 3:44.55, while Gonzalez and Cooper placed 21
st and 22
nd in the 400-meter dash.

In the jumps department, first-year
Allen Simms led the team with an eighth-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 12.23 (40-1 ½), while second-year
Thomas Herberger (Avon, NY) placed 10
th with a distance of 12.07 (39-7 ¼). In the long jump, Service placed 22
nd with a distance 5.53 (18-1 ¾) with teammate McDonald right behind him in 23
rd with a leap of 5.51 (18-1).

In throwing,
Cal Marks (Wellsburg, NY/Elmira) finished in 21
st in the weight throw with a toss of 12.39 (40-7 ¾) and teammate
Mark Temp (Richmondville, NY/CRCS) placed 23
rd with a distance of 11.16 (36-7 ½).

The Tigers return to action next Saturday, February 22, as they travel to Utica University to compete in the Fast Trax Invite.
