Cobleskill Showcases Strong Performances at Utica Fast Trax Invitational

Utica, NY: The SUNY Cobleskill men's indoor track and field team put on a strong showing at the Utica University Fast Trax Invitational on Saturday, delivering solid performances across multiple events.

In distance events, Nik Recore (Peru, NY) led the way in the 5000m, placing fourth with a time of 16:57.34, while Estaban Delgado (New Rochelle, NY) secured seventh in 18:35.52. Daniel Jaffin (Woodbury, CT/Nonnewaug) clocked 5:05.89 in the mile to finish 32nd, and Antonio Gonzalez (Niskayuna, NY) ran 2:13.91 in the 800m for 21st place. The distance medley relay team of Jaffin, Charles Cooper (Connetquot, NY), Gonzalez, and Recore impressed with a third-place finish, crossing the line in 11:59.91.

In sprints, Gregory McDonald(Wells, ME) placed 15th in the 60m dash with a time of 7.30, while Patrick Ponzo (Albany, NY) crossed the line at 7.56 and Zachary Russell (Deposit, NY) at 7.67 to finish 40th and 52nd. McDonald later ran 24.06 in the 200m, finishing 42nd. In the 400m, Brayden Lambert (Camden, NY) took 27th in 59.32.

Kameron Cusmano (Oakfield, NY/Oakfield-Alabama) had a standout performance in the 60m hurdles, advancing to the finals with a 9.09 in his heat before placing sixth overall in 8.97. He also excelled in the high jump, clearing 1.72m (5-7 ¾) to finish eighth.

In the jumps, Allen Simms (Ithaca, NY) reached 5.86m (19-2 ¾) in the long jump for 23rd place, and Thomas Herberger (Avon, NY) landed a 12.33m (40-5 ½) effort in the triple jump to secure ninth.

The throws squad saw Cal Marks (Wellsburg, NY) place 11th in the weight throw with a mark of 12.93m (42-5 ¼), while Mark Temp (Richmondville, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) finished 24th at 11.10m (36-5). In shot put, Marks (10.67m/35-0 ¼) and Temp (9.37m/30-9) placed 23rd and 29th, respectively.

The Fighting Tigers return to the track next Friday and Saturday as they travel to SUNY Brockport for the SUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
