Brockport, NY: The SUNY Cobleskill men's track and field team put their grit and determination on display at the SUNYAC Championships, competing against some of the best talent in the conference.
On the opening day, distance runner
Nik Recore (Peru, NY) set the tone for the Fighting Tigers with a gutsy effort in the 5000 meters, grinding out a 10th-place finish in 15:53.74—just four seconds shy of a scoring position.
In the sprints, hurdler
Kameron Cusmano (Oakfield, NY/Oakfield-Alabama) made his SUNYAC debut in the 60-meter hurdles, attacking the race with confidence and crossing the line in 8.99 seconds to place 15th.
Over in the field events, thrower
Cal Marks (Wellsburg, NY) muscled out a throw of 12.94m (42-5 ½) in the weight throw, securing 16th place against a deep field of competitors. The distance medley relay (DMR) squad of
Antonio Gonzalez (Niskayuna, NY), Cusmano,
Charles Cooper (Connetquot, NY), and Recore battled through a crowded field to take 11th place.
On the final day of competition,
Thomas Herberger was the lone Fighting Tiger in action. He took to the high jump apron and cleared 1.75m (5-8 ¾) to finish 15th in the event.
