Cobleskill Sweeps UMaine-Farmington in NAC Opener

Auburndale, FL: The SUNY Cobleskill baseball team kicked off North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play in style, sweeping the University of Maine at Farmington in a Saturday night doubleheader.

Game One: Cobleskill 8, UMaine-Farmington 3
Cobleskill's bats came alive early and often, led by Ryan Lansing (Cooperstown, NY), who delivered a perfect 5-for-5 night at the plate, collecting a triple, double, and three singles while scoring three times and driving in a run. Zach Ducorsky (Oceanside, NY) provided the clutch hitting, knocking in three runs, while Logan Firment (Andes, NY/South Kortright) went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and a stolen base. David Flora (Windsor, NY) chipped in a 2-for-3 effort, adding an RBI, a double, and two stolen bases.

On the mound, Dylan Schwam (Cooper City, FL/South Plantation) notched his first win of the season, working six innings and striking out six while scattering seven hits. Mike Markle (West Shokan, NY/Roundout Valley) and Connor Mulligan (Cheshire, NY) combined to shut the door in relief.

Farmington grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the third, but Cobleskill responded in the bottom half as Firment crushed a solo shot to left to ignite the offense. The Tigers plated two more in the frame, highlighted by Flora's RBI double and Ducorsky's sacrifice fly.

A three-run fifth inning gave Cobleskill breathing room, with Ducorsky driving in two more runs before Jesus Sarda (Colonie, NY) added an RBI single. Farmington pushed across a pair in the ninth, but the Tigers slammed the door to secure the win.

Game Two: Cobleskill 7, UMaine-Farmington 5
The Tigers completed the sweep with a 7-5 victory, using a four-run fifth inning to erase a deficit and take control. Flora stayed hot, going 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Christian Tedford (Coxsackie, NY/Coxsackie Athens) added a 2-for-3 night with two RBIs. Ducorsky and Korin Laurilla (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) each chipped in an RBI, with Laurilla's two-run single proving pivotal.

Logan Scott (Binghamton, NY) took the ball for Cobleskill, tossing four innings while allowing four hits and striking out two. Reis Brammer (Cohoes, NY/CBA Albany) followed with two dominant innings of relief, fanning six, before Adam Champlin (South Kortright, NY) closed it out in the seventh.

Once again, Farmington struck first with a run in the opening frame. Cobleskill evened things up in the second when Tedford roped an RBI single. After Farmington reclaimed the lead with two in the third, the Tigers clawed back with a pair of runs, tying the game 3-3 after a Ducorsky sacrifice fly and a Lansing run scored on a balk.

Trailing 4-3, Cobleskill's bats came alive in the fifth. Laurilla's clutch two-run single put the Tigers ahead, and Tedford followed with an RBI knock to extend the lead. Gutierrez (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Hayes) added an insurance run with a fielder's choice, and the Tigers held on despite a late Farmington push.
