Cobleskill Men Open Outdoor Season with Strong Effort at Utica

Utica, NY: The Cobleskill men's track and field team kicked off their outdoor season at the Utica Almost Spring Invite on Sunday.

In the distance events, Nik Recore (Peru, NY) led the Tigers with a seventh-place finish in the 5000 meters, clocking in at 16:34.41. Charles Cooper (Connetquot, NY) and Antonio Gonzalez (Niskayuna, NY) battled through the 400-meter hurdles, finishing sixth and seventh with times of 1:10.58 and 1:12.57, respectively.

Gregory McDonald (Wells, ME) showed early-season speed in the 100 meters, placing 10th in 11.73, while Allen Simms (Ithaca, NY) finished 33rd in 12.39. Simms also had a strong showing in the jumps, leaping to 11th place in the long jump at 6.02 meters (19-9). Thomas Herberger (Avon, NY) added a top-five finish, placing fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.00 meters (39-4 ½).

In the throws, Cal Marks (Wellsburg, NY/Elmira) led the way with a ninth-place finish in the hammer throw, launching it 39.47 meters (129-6). He also placed 14th in the discus at 31.67 meters (103-11), while Mark Temp (Richmondville, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) finished 17th with a throw of 29.83 meters (97-10). Brayden Lambert (Camden, NY) placed ninth in the javelin with a toss of 30.43 meters (99-10).

Kameron Cusmano (Oakfield, NY/Oakfield-Alabama) competed in both track and field events, finishing 11th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 22.68 and tying for seventh in the high jump.
