Rochester, NY – The SUNY Cobleskill men's indoor track and field team placed 14th overall while competing against a deep field at the Nazareth Conference Challenge Cup on Saturday afternoon at the Golisano Training Center.
Cobleskill opened the day in the sprints, led by
Patrick Ponzo (Albany, NY), who posted a 13th-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.49 seconds.
Zander Fortune (South Kortright, NY) followed in 26th place at 7.75 seconds, while
Zachary Russell (Deposit, NY) finished 30th after crossing the line in 7.81 seconds.
In the middle-distance events,
David Kogan (Brooklyn, NY) represented the Tigers in the 800 meters, placing 65th overall with a time of 2:18.69.
Nik Recore (Peru, NY) competed in the 3,000 meters and placed 30th with a time of 9:35.15.
The throws group delivered several strong performances for Cobleskill. In the weight throw,
Connor Rinas (Ontario County, NY) led the Tigers with a seventh-place finish after a toss of 14.78 meters (48-6).
Cal Marks (Wellsburg, NY) followed closely behind in ninth place with a throw of 14.25 meters (46-9), while
Will Mann (Pawling, NY) placed 14th at 13.74 meters.
Mark Temp (Richmondville, NY) rounded out the event with a 30th-place finish at 11.45 meters (37-6¾).
Cobleskill continued to shine in the shot put, where Mann narrowly missed his own program record, finishing sixth overall with a mark of 13.94 meters (45-9), the Tigers' top finish of the meet. Marks tied for 33rd with a throw of 10.18 meters (33-4¾), while Rinas also tied for 33rd.
The Tigers closed the meet in the field events with the long jump, as
Zachary Russell placed 23rd with a leap of 5.49 meters (18-0¼).
Uriel Lopez Navarro (Brewster, NY) followed in 25th with a jump of 5.45 meters (17-10¾).
