Triblet’s Career-High 20 Leads Tigers Past VTSU-Lyndon, 69-59

Lyndonville, VT – Kyara Triblet (Colonie, NY) delivered a career performance to pace the SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team, as the Tigers controlled the tempo and pulled away late for a 69-59 North Atlantic Conference road win over VTSU-Lyndon on Saturday evening.

Triblet finished with a career-high 20 points to go along with six rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and a steal, shooting 9-of-19 from the field while setting the tone on both ends of the floor. Jaiyla Colon (Worcester, MA) was once again a steady force, pouring in 15 points with nine rebounds, three assists, and a steal while constantly getting to the line as she finished a perfect 10-for-10 at the free-throw line. Hannah Bonczkowski (Gilbertsville, NY) continued to provide a spark off the bench with nine points, while Zaylee Ramos (Worcester, MA) added seven points and three assists. Kayleigh Bryant (Schenevus, NY) anchored the glass with seven rebounds and chipped in five points.

Cobleskill shot 36.2 percent from the field, but the difference came at the free-throw line, where the Tigers converted 81 percent (17-of-21). Lyndon finished at 42.9 percent from the floor but struggled at the stripe, going just 7-of-19 (36.8 percent). The Tigers won the rebounding battle 46-40 and turned defense into offense, forcing 19 turnovers that led to a 21-6 advantage in points off turnovers. Cobleskill's bench once again played a key role, outscoring the Hornets 24-8.

The Tigers came out strong, jumping to a 7-2 lead early after a Triblet finish off a Colon assist. Lyndon responded with a run of its own, briefly taking the lead, but Triblet answered to keep Cobleskill in front. After the Hornets built a 17-11 edge late in the first, the Tigers closed the quarter on a 6-0 run fueled by Triblet and Kate Hadwen (Fair Haven, VT), though a late Lyndon triple sent the teams into the break with the Hornets up 20-17.

Cobleskill took control in the second quarter, opening on a 12-2 run capped by a Triblet layup to seize a 29-22 lead. Colon knocked down a pair of free throws to push the advantage into double digits, and the Tigers outscored Lyndon 20-8 in the quarter to take a 37-28 lead into halftime.

The Hornets made a push to open the third, trimming the margin to four, but Cobleskill answered each time. A Bonczkowski layup and a pair of strong finishes from Triblet helped the Tigers maintain control, carrying a 48-44 lead into the fourth.

Cobleskill set the tone early in the final frame, stretching the lead to 53-45 behind another Bonczkowski bucket. Layups from Bryant and Triblet pushed the margin back to double digits, and a corner three from Bonczkowski with just over two minutes remaining kept the Tigers firmly in control. Lyndon made one final push late, cutting the deficit to five, but Cobleskill stayed composed and sealed the win at the free-throw line to close out the 69-59 victory.
