Utica, NY – The SUNY Cobleskill men's indoor track and field team turned in another solid performance on Saturday at the Utica Pioneer Fast Trax Invite, hosted by Utica University, highlighted by a record-breaking day from sophomore thrower
Will Mann who set his second program record of the season.
Mann (Pawling, NY) set a new SUNY Cobleskill program record in the weight throw with a toss of 15.36 meters (50-4¾), placing ninth overall in the event. The mark eclipsed the previous school record of 15.16 meters (49-9), set by Kyle Robinson in 2007, giving Mann his second program record of the season. Mann also added a sixth-place finish in the shot put, throwing 13.97 meters (45-10), just 0.01 meters shy of his program record.
Cobleskill saw solid performances on the track throughout the meet.
Patrick Ponzo (Albany, NY) led the Tigers in the 60-meter dash, placing 12th with a time of 7.34 seconds, while
Zander Fortune (South Kortright, NY) finished 35th in 7.64 seconds. In the 60-meter hurdles,
Zachary Russell (Deposit, NY) placed 18th overall with a time of 9.64 seconds.
In the distance events,
Nik Recore (Peru, NY) paced the Tigers in the mile, finishing 15th with a time of 4:52.05.
David Kogan (Brooklyn, NY) placed 26th in 5:13.38, while
Michael Jocz (Syracuse, NY) finished 29th after crossing the line in 5:23.43.
The Tigers also saw strong efforts in the 300 meters, as
Uriel Lopez Navarro (Brewster, NY) placed 15th with a time of 40.74 seconds, while Fortune finished 16th in 40.89 seconds.
Antonio Gonzalez (Niskayuna, NY) competed in the 600 meters and placed 13th with a time of 1:40.58. Kogan returned in the 800 meters and placed ninth overall with a time of 2:26.02.
Lopez Navarro also competed in the 200 meters, finishing 42nd with a time of 25.85 seconds.
In the throws,
Connor Rinas (Ontario County, NY) posted a 13th-place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 14.89 meters (48-10¼), while
Cal Marks (Wellsburg, NY) placed 18th at 13.86 meters (45-5¾).
Mark Temp (Richmondville, NY) rounded out the event for the Tigers with a 33rd-place finish after a toss of 11.84 meters (38-10¼). In the shot put, Marks finished 26th with a throw of 11.43 meters (37-6), while Rinas placed 28th with a toss of 11.09 meters (36-4¾).
