Brockport, NY – The SUNY Cobleskill men's and women's indoor track and field teams opened competition on Friday at Day One of the SUNYAC Indoor Championships, hosted by SUNY Brockport at the Special Events Recreation Center.
On the women's side,
Anneliese Klein (Carlisle, NY) punched her ticket to the 60-meter hurdles final after placing seventh overall in the prelims with a time of 9.68 seconds. Klein secured the automatic advancement by finishing third in her heat.
Trinity Grant (Albany, NY) narrowly missed joining her in the final, placing ninth overall in 9.97 seconds - just 0.02 seconds outside of qualification - while
Allison Merle (Holley, NY) finished 13th with a time of 10.14 seconds.
In the men's 60-meter hurdles,
Zachary Russell (Deposit, NY) competed in the prelims and placed 19th overall with a time of 9.47 seconds.
Cobleskill saw strong distance performances in the 5,000 meters.
Gabrielle Waite posted a 14th-place finish in a competitive women's field with a time of 19:39.23. On the men's side,
Nik Recore (Peru, NY) just missed out on scoring, placing ninth overall with a time of 16:09.64.
In the field events,
Finley McArdle (East Aurora, NY) earned points for the women's team in the pole vault, tying for seventh after clearing 2.30 meters (7-6½).
The Tigers also turned in solid efforts in the weight throw.
Adira-Virginia Greer-Padilla (Fallsburg, NY) led the Cobleskill women with a 10th-place finish after a toss of 13.22 meters (43-4½).
Dory Gosselin (Whitehall, NY) followed in 12th at 12.72 meters (41-8¾), while
Sidney Glover (Cincinnatus, NY) placed 17th with a throw of 12.00 meters (39-4½).
On the men's side,
Will Mann (Pawling, NY) placed 13th overall in the weight throw with a mark of 14.81 meters (48-7¼), while
Cal Marks (Wellsburg, NY) finished 16th with a toss of 14.14 meters (46-4¾).
The Fighting Tigers return to action Saturday for Day Two of the SUNYAC Indoor Championships.
