Bonczkowski Scores Career-High 25 as Tigers Earn First Program Win Over Husson, 62-47

Cobleskill, NY – The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team earned its first program win over Husson University on Friday night, using a strong defensive effort and a big scoring performance from Hannah Bonczkowski to secure a 62-47 North Atlantic Conference victory inside the Iorio Gymnasium.

Bonczkowski (Gilbertsville, NY) caught fire from the perimeter, finishing with a career-high 25 points while knocking down five three-pointers. She shot 8-of-14 from the floor and 5-of-10 from beyond the arc to lead the Tigers' offensive attack. Jaiyla Colon (Worcester, MA) followed with 12 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and a steal, while Kyara Triblet (Colonie, NY) turned in a strong two-way effort with 12 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Zaylee Ramos (Worcester, MA) added six points, five rebounds, and two assists.

Cobleskill also controlled the glass, as Sydney Delisle (Mechanicville, NY) grabbed 11 rebounds and Kayleigh Bryant (Schenevus, NY) posted a career-high 10 boards in the win.

Cobleskill set the tone on the defensive end from the opening tip, never trailing throughout the contest. The Tigers held Husson to 30.5 percent shooting from the field and just 20 percent from three-point range. Cobleskill finished the night shooting 35.9 percent from the floor and 35.7 percent from deep, while also dominating the rebounding battle, 49-34. That advantage translated into a 28-18 edge in points in the paint and a 14-3 margin in second chance points. The Tigers' depth once again played a key role, as Cobleskill's bench outscored Husson 33-17.

Colon opened the scoring with a layup, sparking an early 8-0 run as the Tigers jumped out to a 10-2 lead. Bryant, Triblet, and Kate Hadwen (Fair Haven, VT) each contributed baskets during the stretch. Cobleskill maintained control through the first quarter, taking a 14-8 lead into the second after late jumpers from Ramos and Colon.

The Tigers pushed the lead to double digits early in the second quarter when Colon found Triblet for a jumper to make it 18-8. Husson responded with a run of its own, cutting the deficit to two, but Bonczkowski quickly took over. The junior scored 11 straight points to close the half, drilling three consecutive three-pointers to give Cobleskill momentum and a 31-22 advantage at the break.

Cobleskill broke the game open in the third quarter, opening on a 13-2 run to take a commanding 43-24 lead. Bonczkowski stayed hot, scoring seven points during the run and later burying another triple as the Tigers carried a 46-30 lead into the final period.

The Tigers stayed in control down the stretch, highlighted by back-to-back buckets from Colon to make it 53-37 with just over six minutes remaining. Husson attempted to make a late push, but Triblet answered with key free throws and a layup to keep Cobleskill comfortably ahead. The Tigers closed out the 62-47 win to secure the program's first victory over the Eagles.
