Cobleskill Baseball Falls to Roanoke in Series Finale

SALEM, Va. — The SUNY Cobleskill baseball team dropped the second game of its non-conference series with Roanoke College on Wednesday afternoon, falling 12-2 in a seven-inning contest.

Cobleskill finished with two runs on five hits, with both runs coming during a third-inning rally.

Senior shortstop Jeffrey Gutierrez (Bronx, NY) paced the Tigers offensively, going 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Senior designated hitter Jesus Sarda (Colonie, NY) added a double and drove in a run, while senior infielder Ryan Lansing (Cooperstown, NY) also recorded an RBI in the inning.

The Tigers' scoring came in the top of the third when Zach Papanikolatos (Patchoque, N.Y)  reached base and later scored during the rally. Lansing brought home the first run of the inning before Sarda followed with an RBI double to left field to account for Cobleskill's two runs.

Cobleskill used several pitchers in the contest, including starter Reis Brammer (Cohoes, NY). Na'eem Bornstein-Brown (Queens, NY) provided a bright spot out of the bullpen, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts.

Defensively, Anthony Sergi (Chenango Forks, NY) recorded five putouts in center field as the Tigers worked through the shortened contest.
