Tigers Drop Twinbill at MCLA

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The SUNY Cobleskill softball team dropped both ends of a non-conference doubleheader at MCLA on Wednesday afternoon, falling 17-2 in the opener before a 8-0 setback in the second game at Shewcraft Field.

Game One: MCLA 17, Cobleskill 2

Cobleskill was limited to two runs on two hits in the opener. Gabriella Wendelken accounted for one of the Tigers' two hits with a triple and scored twice, while Avery Prievo drove in both Cobleskill runs.

The Tigers pushed across single runs in the second and fourth innings, but MCLA broke the game open with a 17-run third inning and went on to secure the five-inning win. Cobleskill finished with two hits, one walk, and two hit batters in the contest.

Game Two: MCLA 8, Cobleskill 0

In the second game, Cobleskill was held without a hit as MCLA completed the sweep with an 8-0 victory. The Tigers put just one runner on base and were limited to 16 at-bats over five innings.

Sam Lawton went the distance in the circle, striking out five over 4.2 innings, while Cobleskill turned a pair of double plays defensively. MCLA scored three runs in the third, one in the fourth, and four in the fifth to pull away.

Cobleskill returns to action on Thursday, March 26 against Morrisville at All-Star Village in Oneonta, with a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
