Cobleskill, N.Y. — The SUNY Cobleskill men's lacrosse team dropped its North Atlantic Conference opener to Husson University on Monday afternoon, falling 13-3 at home.
Husson built an early lead with three first-quarter goals before Cobleskill got on the board late in the period as Jace Miranda scored with five seconds remaining off an assist from Rob Staubitz.
The Eagles extended their advantage in the second and third quarters, controlling possession and outshooting the Tigers throughout the contest. Husson finished with 50 total shots compared to Cobleskill's 20.
Cobleskill added two fourth-quarter goals from Staubitz and Dylan Linehan, but the deficit proved too much to overcome.
Staubitz led the Tigers with a goal and an assist, while Linehan and Miranda each added a score. In goal, James Meier made 25 saves while facing heavy pressure from the Husson offense.
