SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — The SUNY Cobleskill baseball team out-hit Union on Thursday evening, but the Tigers came up short in a 3-1 non-conference loss at Central Park "A". Cobleskill finished with one run on nine hits in the seven-inning contest.
The Tigers struck first in the top of the opening inning. Troy Enamait reached and later came around to score on a two-out RBI double by Tony Woodie, giving Cobleskill an early 1-0 advantage.
Cobleskill continued to put runners on base throughout the night, getting multi-hit efforts from Logan Firment, who went 2-for-3 with a triple, Jake Brazzano, and Troy Enamait. Ryan Lansing, Korin Laurilla, Cole Platt, Aidan Creamer, and Woodie each added a hit as the Tigers totaled nine knocks.
Despite the steady offensive production, Union limited the damage and kept Cobleskill from adding to its lead. The Tigers left six runners on base and were unable to capitalize on several scoring opportunities after the first inning.
On the mound, Cobleskill used six pitchers in the contest. Evan Balbera made the start and worked a scoreless opening inning, while Jared Ainsworth and Na'eem Bornstein-Brown each followed with scoreless relief appearances. Union broke through in the fourth inning and added insurance later in the game to pull ahead.
