Bangor, Maine:Â Down two after the first inning and staring at a potential tournament exit, the SUNY Cobleskill softball team did what this group has done all season: they answered. The Tigers rallied past Maine-Farmington 8-3 on Thursday morning at O'Keefe Field in Bangor, Maine, punching their ticket to the next round of the 2026 NAC Softball Tournament.
Maine-Farmington came out swinging, putting two on the board in the first inning before Cobleskill could get settled. But
Gabriella Wendelken steadied things in the circle and the Tigers' lineup did the rest, chipping away in the third before completely taking over in the fourth.
That fourth inning was the turning point. With the Tigers trailing 3-1 and runners on base,
Kylie Rattigan stepped into the batter's box with a chance to change the game and she did exactly that. Rattigan launched a grand slam to put Cobleskill ahead for good, accounting for four of the six runs in the frame. By the time the inning was over, the Tigers led 7-3, and the energy of the game had shifted entirely.
Rattigan finished 1-for-4 with five RBI. Â
Baylee Yandow had a quietly outstanding afternoon, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and crossing the plate twice.
Sam Lawton reached base three times — singling in a run and drawing a walk — and
Mackenzie Carver added a hit and an RBI.
Avery Prievo and
Sammy Fausti each scored a run as well to round out a balanced offensive effort.
Wendelken was composed throughout, working all seven innings and limiting Maine-Farmington to two earned runs on nine hits while fanning eight batters on 145 pitches. She gave up the early damage but didn't allow another run after the first inning, keeping the Beavers off the board across the final six frames and giving her team every opportunity to come back.
UP NEXT: The Tigers advance in the 2026 NAC Softball Tournament to play at 3 pm today against the winner of the Delhi v UMPI matchup.
