Geneva, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's swimming & diving split a pair of decisions on the road Saturday afternoon losing to host William Smith College 143.5-to-87.5 while defeating North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) rival Cazenovia College 126-to-104. With the split the Fighting Tigers move to 4-2 overall in head-to-head competition on the season to date.
The Cobleskill diving corps continued to play a major role in the team's success as sophomore
Merrin Gural, Summitt, N.Y., The Hewlett School, won one-meter diving with 193.10 points while placing second in the three-meter diving with 159.80 points while sophomore
Alex Steelman, Ithaca, N.Y., Lansing High School, took three-meter diving with 170.05 points while placing second in one-meter diving with 173.45 points.
In the pool freshman
Rachel Saltus, Islip Terrace, N.Y., Central Islip High School, placed second overall in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:56.69 and fifth in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:40.58 while freshman
Maia Rumsey, Trumansburg, N.Y., Odessa-Montour High School, was second in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:01.47 and fifth in the 50-yard freestyle in 27.61 seconds.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Saturday November 22 when they travel to Cazenovia College to face the host Wildcats along with Cedar Crest College beginning at 1:00 p.m.
