Cazenovia, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's swimming & diving team registered a split on Saturday afternoon at Cazenovia College losing to the host Wildcats by a 150-129 tally while easily defeating Cedar Crest College by a score of 186-78. With the split the Fighting Tigers move to 5-3 versus head-to-head competition on the season.
Sophomore diver
Merrin Gural, Summit, N.Y., The Hewlett School, turned in the most impressive showing of the day for the Orange & Black winning the one-meter diving with an 11-dive total of 441.95 points to meet the NCAA Regional Qualifying Standard.
The Fighting Tigers also received individual event wins from: freshman
Rachel Saltus, Islip Terrace, N.Y., East Islip High School, who took the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:52.93 and from freshman
Heidi Cortright, Johnson City, N.Y., Johnson City High School, in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:02.77.
In the relays, the team of freshman
Maia Rumsey, Trumansburg, N.Y., Odessa-Montour High School, sophomore
Hannah Kincaid, Topsham, Me., Mt. Ararat High School, junior
Stephanie Pyra, Barker, N.Y., Barker High School, and freshman
Danielle Hoyt, Walcott, N.Y., Rose-Walcott High School, captured the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 2:09.17.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday December 6 when they host quadrangular meet featuring: Wells College, Alfred State College and Gallaudet University.
