Box Score Aurora, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team closed their first semester on Sunday by dropping a 76-63 decision to host Wells College in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 1-4 overall on the season including a 0-2 mark in NEAC play while The Express improves to 2-3 overall including a 1-2 record in league play.
Turnovers plagued the Fighting Tigers throughout the contest as 19 Cobleskill turnovers led to 24 points for The Express on the afternoon. The visitors trailed by 12 points at the half at 35-23 and could come no closer than seven points after the break with Wells converting on 8-of-9 free throws down the stretch to secure the decision.
Sophomore forward
Shelby Preston, Ravena, N.Y., Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, almost single-handedly kept the Orange & Black in the contest converting on 13-of-24 shots from the field and 7-of-10 free throw opportunities as part of a career high 34 point, 12 rebound, three steal effort.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action after their Christmas break when they travel to Canton, N.Y. to face the Kangaroos of SUNY Canton in non-conference action beginning at 1:00 p.m
