Utica, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's swimming & diving team suffered a pair of defeats at a triangular meet hosted by Utica College on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Tigers were defeated by host Utica College by a score of 151-118 and by Nazareth College by a 223-62 margin. With the losses the Fighting Tigers fall to 8-5 overall on the season versus head-to-head competition.
Once again it was the Cobleskill divers who turned in the top showing at the meet as sophomore
Alex Steelman, Ithaca, N.Y., Lansing High School, won the one-meter diving event with a score of 338.15 points followed by her teammate sophomore
Merrin Gural, Summit, N.Y., The Hewitt School, who totaled 329.75 points on the day.
In the pool freshman swimmer
Maia Rumsey, Trumansburg, N.Y., Odessa-Montour High School, turned in the best effort of the meet for the Fighting Tigers finishing third overall in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:10.64.
The Orange & Black will next be in action on Sunday January 25 when the team's divers will compete at the 2015 Dick Comanzo Diving Invitational hosted by Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y. beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Bombers Athletics & Events Center.
