Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's swimming & diving team continued their early season winning ways on Saturday by mauling the Pioneers of Alfred State College by 100-41 score at the Bouck Hall Natatorium. The victory improves the Fighting Tigers to 2-0 versus head-to-head competition while the Pioneers fall to 0-1 on the season to date.
The Orange & Black set the tone for the victory early as the 400-yard Medley Relay of junior
Hannah Kincaid, Topsham, Me./Mt. Ararat High School, sophomore
Danielle Hoyt, Wolcott, N.Y., North Rose-Wolcott High School, sophomore
Rachel Saltus, Islip Terrace, N.Y., Central Islip High School, and freshman
Emily Sugrue, Long Island City, N.Y., The Renaissance Charter School, won the event with a new program record time of 4:42.48.
After posting their quick start, the Fighting Tigers captured seven individual event titles as
Emily Sugrue took the 50-year freestyle in 27.24 seconds and the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:10.19 while
Rachel Saltus captured the 1000-yard freestyle in 14:15.67 and the 100-yard butterfly in 1:16.52. Hannah Kinkaid was also a multiple event winner for the Orange & Black in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:22.45 and the 500-yard freestyle in 6:23.90.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday November 7
th when they travel to Bronxville, N.Y. for a double dual meet hosted by the Gryphons of Sarah Lawrence College also featuring the Dolphins of the College of Mount Saint Vincent beginning at 1:30 p.m.
