Box Score Keene, N.H.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team opened their 2015 season on Friday afternoon by losing a 91-56 decision to the host Keene State Owls at the 2015 Keene State Tournament. With the loss the Fighting Tigers open the year with a 0-1 record while the Owls begin their season at 1-0.
In the new four-quarter format adopted this season for NCAA women's contests the host Owls jumped out to a 26-10 first quarter advantage and never looked back as the Fighting Tigers struggled offensively against the rugged Keene State defense committing 27 turnovers which led to 36 points for the home team. Cobleskill also shoot only 14-of-52, 26.9%, from the field on the afternoon including 2-of-15, 13.3%, from three-point range in the game.
Junior forward
Shelby Preston, Ravena, N.Y., Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, was a bright spot in the loss for the visitors scoring 17 points to go with five rebounds and a blocked shot on the afternoon.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Saturday November 14
th when they meet the loser of the Sage College vs. Mount Ida College game at 12:00 p.m.
