Fighting Tiger Softball Sweeps Cazenovia College in NEAC Action to Improve to 15-2 Overall

Fighting Tigers Blast Five Home Runs in Sweep of Cazenovia Wildcats on Saturday

Cazenovia, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's softball team packed their bats on Saturday as the Fighting Tigers made use of their potent offensive attack to sweep a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) road games from host Cazenovia College by scores of 9-5 and 11-6. With the sweep Cobleskill improves to 15-2 overall on the season with a NEAC North Division leading 9-1 record in league play while Cazenovia falls to 7-16 on the year with a 4-9 conference record.

In the opener, the Fighting Tigers used a four-run sixth inning outburst to seal the victory as part of a 13 hit barrage. Senior catcher Madeline DeMilio, Valhalla, N.Y., Valhalla High School, provided the key hit in the rally; a two-run single which broke the contest open.

DeMilio, hitting in the lead-off spot, was the Cobleskill offensive catalyst going 4-for-5 with a double, two stolen bases, three runs scored and three RBI in the victory supported by freshman first baseman Morgan Nichols, Syracuse, N.Y., West Genesee High School, who was 3-for-4 on the day including her sixth home run of the season and five RBI.

Freshman pitcher Emily Anger, Atlanta, N.Y., Wayland-Cohocton High School, worked four innings to earn credit for the victory improving her record to 3-0 on the season with relief help from junior Erin Wadsworth, Valatie, N.Y., Ichabod Crane High School, who worked three innings to record her second save of the season.

Madeline DeMilio once again jump started the offense leading of the game which a her second home run and a double of the year as part of 2-for-4, two RBI effort aided by Nichols who was 2-for-5 in the game with two RBI including the  home run.

The Fighting Tigers also received strong contributions from Julia Lull who was 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and two RBI while sophomore right fielder Erika Gogis, Pattersonville, N.Y., Schalmont High School, was 2-for-3 with a stolen base and a pair of RBI.
