Men's Lax Falls to Morrisville State College 21-3 in Final Home Game of Season

Fighting Tigers Drop 21-3 Decision to Morrisville State Mustangs


Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's lacrosse team had few answers for the powerful Morrisville State College offensive attack on Wednesday afternoon as the Fighting Tigers fell to the visiting Mustangs by a 21-3 margin in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 3-10 overall on the year with a 1-6 record versus league opponents while Morrisville State improves to 8-5 overall on the year and wrap up the NEAC regular season title with a perfect 7-0 mark in league play.

The Mustangs dominated the action from the opening face-off outshooting the Orange & Black by a 56-18 margin and taking the battle of the ground balls by a comfortable 57-26 tally. The Mustangs also forced 26 turnovers and finished a perfect 21-for-21 in clearing opportunities on the afternoon.

Morrisville State was led offensively by freshman midfielder Adam Sawitsky, Pine Bush, N.Y., Pine Bush, N.Y. who finished the day with game high of four goals and by junior attackman John Sherlock, Tully, N.Y., Tully High School, who notched two goals and five assists in the win.

SUNY Cobleskill received a goal and an assist from sophomore midfielder David Meyers, Manorville, N.Y., Eastport-South Manor High School, on the afternoon.

Junior goalkeeper Chris Fiore, Staten Island, N.Y., New Dorp High School, recorded the win for the visitors making five saves to improve his record in net to 8-5 on the season while Fighting Tigers senior goalie Eric Randazzo, Tully, N.Y., Tully High School, recorded 10 saves but suffered the defeat to fall to 3-9 on the year.

Cobleskill will close their season on Saturday April 25 when they travel to Hamburg, N.Y. to face NEAC rival Hilbert College beginning at 1:00 p.m. while Morrisville close out the regular season prior to hosting the 2015 NEAC Championship Tournament by traveling to Bryn Athyn, Pa. on Saturday to face Bryn Athy College in league play beginning at 2:00 p.m.
