Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's softball team punched their ticket to the 2015 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship Tournament on Saturday afternoon by sweeping the Wildcats of Penn College of Technology by scores of 6-2 and 11-9 in conference play at Fighting Tiger Park. With the victories the Fighting Tigers establish a new program record for wins in a season as they improve to 21-4 overall on the year while holding on to the lead in the conference's north division with a mark of 15-3 in league action. The Wildcats now fall to 8-24 on the year with a 6-10 mark in league play.
The Fighting Tigers trailed 1-0 entering the fourth inning of the opener when freshman first base
Morgan Nichols, Syracuse, N.Y., West Genesee High School, reached on an error and subsequently scored on a two-out error to tie the game at 1-1.
Cobleskill then once again struck deep to put the game out of reach when freshman second baseman Jamie Lord, Mechanicville, N.Y., Ballston Spa High School, belted a three-run homer to left center field to make the score 4-1. The Orange & Black added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth inning when with junior catcher
Madeline DeMilio, Valhalla, N.Y., Valhalla High School, on third and sophomore right fielder
Erika Gogis, Pattersonville, N.Y., Schalmont High School, on second with one out
Morgan Nichols hit a sacrifice fly to the deepest part of center field scoring DeMilio with the speedy Gogis in close pursuit also scoring on the play to making it 6-1 in favor of the home team.
Junior pitching ace
Erin Wadsworth, Valatie, N.Y. Valatie High School, made the lead stand up allowing two-unearned runs in seven innings of work striking out seven and walking two to improve her record to 9-2 on the year.
Jamie Lord was the game one hitting star of the first game going 1-for-3 with her second home run of the season, a run scored and three RBI.
In the nightcap the Fighting Tigers revved up their offense to outscore an upset minded Wildcats squad by an 11-9 margin.
Madeline DeMilio paced the Cobleskill offense in the second game as the junior catcher went 3-for-4 with a triple, her fourth home run of the season, a stolen base, four runs scored and three RBI in the victory while
Erika Gogis went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI.
The Orange & Black also received a strong offensive outing from their double play combination as second baseman Jamie Lord was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored with freshman shortstop
Angela Fix, Livingston, N.Y., Germantown High School, going 3-for-4 with a double, a stolen base, a run scored and a RBI.

Emily Anger, Atlanta, N.Y., Wayland-Cohocton High School, improved to 5-0 on the season pitching five innings to earn the win with relief help from
Morgan Nichols who registered her third save of the year by pitching two-hitless innings striking out three batters and allowing no walks.
Cobleskill will close the home portion of their schedule on Sunday April 26 when they once again host the Wildcats of Penn College in NEAC play beginning at 11:00 a.m. Â
