Emily Sugrue Named Fighting Tiger Athlete-of-the-Week

Freshman Swimmer Honored for Efforts at Vassar Sprint Invitational


The SUNY Cobleskill Department of Sport & Exercise announced today that freshman Emily Sugrue, Long Island City, N.Y., The Renaissance Charter School, a member of the women's swimming & diving team has been named the department's Fighting Tiger Athlete-of-the-Week.

The talented freshman was the team's top finisher at the Vassar Sprint Invitational hosted by Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon placing sixth overall in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.76 seconds as the Fighting Tigers posted a team total of 90 points to place fifth overall in the field of five teams.
Sugrue also placed ninth in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:09.78 and ninth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:02.31 at the meet for the Orange & Black.

Cobleskill will next compete at the 2016 NEAC Swimming & Diving Championships hosted by Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, N.Y. from Friday February 12th thru Sunday February 14th.
