Dallas, Pa.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's softball team closed their season opening road trip on Tuesday afternoon by dropping a pair of non-league contests to host Misericordia College by scores of 3-2 and 14-0. With the losses the Fighting Tigers open the season with a 0-4 overall record while the Cougars move to 8-6 on the year to date.
In the first game trailing 1-0 in the top of the fifth inning Cobleskill took the lead when freshman catcher
Georgianna Crisci, Walden, N.Y., Valley Central High School, and freshman third baseman
Sarah Munn, Athens, Pa., Athens Area High School, reached on errors with Crisci scoring on a single by junior left fielder
Easton Murray, Greenwich, N.Y., Greenwich High School, and Munn scoring on a single by sophomore shortstop
Angela Fix, Livingston, N.Y., Germantown High School, which made the score 2-1 Fighting Tigers.
However in the bottom of the frame a pair of Cobleskill errors allowed the Cougars to tie the contest at 2-2. Then in the bottom of the six the home team pushed a run across the plate to give Misericordia a 3-2 advantage heading into the seventh.
In the top of the seventh with two outs sophomore second baseman
Jaimee Lord, Mechanicville, N.Y., Ballston Spa High School, tripled to right field setting the stage for junior first baseman Jesse DeVoe, Gloversville, N.Y., Gloversville High School, the team's clean-up hitter. However DeVoe grounded out to second base ending the threat and the game.
Once again sophomore hurler
