Cazenovia, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's softball team dropped a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contests to host Cazenovia College on Friday afternoon by scores of 20-0 and 7-4. With the losses the Fighting Tigers fall to 2-22 overall with a 2-14 mark in NEAC play while the Wildcats even their overall record at 16-16 including an 11-7 record in league action.
In the opener the Fighting Tigers never seriously challenged the home team in any aspect of the game as they could manage only one hit while committing four errors and allowing a season high of 20 runs.
Freshman catcher Gabrielle Danthine, Schoharie, N.Y., Schoharie High School, had the only hit for the Orange & Black going 1-for-2 with a single.
In the nightcap Cobleskill trailed 7-to-1 going into the seventh inning before tallying three times to establish the final margin.
Junior third baseman
Megan Golden, Oxford, N.Y., Oxford Academy, had the big hit for the Fighting Tigers going 1-for-3 with a home run while junior first baseman
Jessica DeVoe, Gloversville, N.Y., Gloversville High School, went 2-for-4 on the day with a RBI. Sophomore right fielder
Kaitlyn Clute, Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Schuylerville High School, also had a good offensive outing going 2-for-3 with a RBI.
Cobleskill will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Morrisville, N.Y. to meet the Mustangs of Morrisville State College in NEAC action beginning at 1:00 p.m.
