Aurora, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's lacrosse team opened their North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) season on Saturday afternoon by dropping a 18-9 decision to host Wells College in a game that was moved to The Express's Wells Turf Field due to regional weather conditions. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 2-2 overall on the year with a 0-1 mark in conference action while The Express improves to 2-3 overall with a 1-0 record in league play.
Several early defensive miscues cost Cobleskill early on as the Orange & Black allowed Wells to score the first three goals of the contest on their way to a 9-4 halftime advantage from which they never looked back.
Sophomore midfielder
Sean Degnan, Monroe, N.Y., Monroe-Woodbury High School, scored three goals and passed out an assist while freshman attackman
Jeremy Mowrey, Johnstown, N.Y., Johnstown High School/Herkimer Community College, added two goals and an assist on the day.
Weather permitting the Fighting Tigers will are tentatively scheduled to host the Eagles of Green Mountain College, conditions permitting, at the Soccer/Lax Complex in non-conference action with face-off scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Monday April 3
