Women's Softball Drops NEAC Doubleheader at SUNY Polytechnic 9-2 & 8-2

Fighting Tigers Suffer NEAC Road Losses to Wildcats in Marcy, N.Y.

Marcy, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's softball team took to the road on Wednesday afternoon to conclude their season series with the Wildcats of SUNY Polytechnic Institute by dropping a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) doubleheader by scores of 9-2 and 8-2. With the losses the Fighting Tigers are now 2-12 overall on the season with a 1-7 record in NEAC play while the Mustangs even their overall record at 9-9 overall including 4-4 mark in conference play.

In the opener the Wildcats scored the game's first nine runs holding a 9-0 lead going into the top of the fifth inning when the Fighting Tigers scored their lone two runs of the contest when junior right fielder Kaitlyn Clute, Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Schuylerville High School, blasted her first home run of the season scoring sophomore designated hitter Eternity Coons, Rensselaer, N.Y., Rensselaer High School, who had singled.

Clute finished the day going 1-for-2 with a walk, a run scored and a RBI while Coons was 1-for-3 with a run scored in the game. Junior third baseman Hannah Hoffman, Troy, N.Y., Averill Park High School, continued her hitting hot streak in the game going 2-for-3 with a double.

In the nightcap the home team once again raced out to a 7-1 lead after four innings from which they never looked back as a pair of Cobleskill errors led to four unearned Wildcat runs.

Kaitlyn Clute went 1-for-3 at the plate with a RBI while Hannah Hoffman finished the day by going 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.

The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Friday April 14th when they travel to Williamstown, Pa. to face the Wildcats of Penn College with first pitch scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
