Morrisville, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's softball team took to the road on Tuesday afternoon to face the Mustangs of Morrisville State College in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action losing the opener 4-3 then falling 8-0 in the second game. With the losses Cobleskill moves to 3-23 overall including a 2-16 mark in conference action while the Mustangs are now 6-20 overall on the season with a 6-12 conference record.
In the first game Cobleskill broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the sixth inning when freshman second baseman Brianna Becker, Euless, Texas, Trinity High School, laced a two-out single to center scoring senior first baseman Jesse DeVoe, Gloversville, N.Y., Gloversville High School, from third with the bases loaded to give the visitors a 3-2 lead.
However in the bottom of the seventh with two outs the scored twice to win in walk-off fashion by a 4-3 tally.
At the plate for the Orange & Black Brianna Becker was 1-for-3 with a RBI with Jesse DeVoe going 1-for-2 with a run scored and a RBI. Junior third baseman
Hannah Hoffman, Troy, N.Y., Averill Park High School/Hudson Valley Community College, continued her hot hitting in the game going 2-for-4 with a run scored.
In the nightcap the Fighting Tigers could manage only one hit off Mustang pitching in the 8-0 shutout loss as third baseman
Hannah Hoffman doubled in the fourth as part of a 1-for-2 outing at the plate.
Cobleskill will return to the road on Thursday April 27
th when they travel to Cazenovia, N.Y. for a NEAC doubleheader versus the Wildcats of Cazenovia College beginning at 3:00 p.m.
