Williamstown, Pa.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's softball dropped a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) road games to the Wildcats of Penn College by scores of 3-1 and 7-1 on Saturday afternoon. With the losses the Fighting Tigers fall to 4-11 overall on the season with a 2-6 mark in conference games while the Wildcats improve to 8-14 overall with a 3-5 record in conference action.
In the first game Fighting Tiger freshman pitcher Rachel Hall, Greenwich, N.Y., Greenwich High School, was once again a hard luck loser holding the home squad to three earned runs on eight hits striking out four and walking no one.
However the Cobleskill offense could not manage to score after the first inning as seven hits and six walks could not be turned into additional scores.
Junior shortstop Nicole Flint, Union Springs, N.Y., Cato-Meridian High School/Monroe Community College, continued her strong play going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.
In the second game Cobleskill pitching could not contain the Wildcat offense as the home team pounded out 10 hits to push their seven runs across the plate.
Sophomore Katerina Weingarten, Carlisle, Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, took the loss allowing five earned runs in six innings of work.
Senior designated hitter Hannah Hoffman, Troy, N.Y., Averill Park High School, was 2-fo-3 with a RBI in the game for the Fighting Tigers.
Cobleskill will return to action on Tuesday April 17 when they are scheduled to host the Wolves of Keuka College for a NEAC doubleheader at Fighting Tiger Park beginning at 3:30 p.m.
