Fighting Tiger Men's Lax Falls to Wells College Express 13-11 in NEAC Action

Poor Second Quarter Hurts Fighting Tigers Versus Wells College in NEAC Play


 
Aurora, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's lacrosse team opened their weekend road trip on Saturday afternoon by dropping a 13-11 decision to Wells College in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play. With the loss the Fighting Tigers move to 3-6 overall on the campaign including a 0-4 mark in NEAC play while The Express is now 4-6 overall with a 2-3 conference record.
                                                                                                                         
Trailing 5-3 after the first quarter the host Express dominated the action in the second quarter moving out to a 9-4 halftime advantage which they would increase to 12-7 after three quarters before the Orange & Black made a spirited run at them in the fourth.
 
The Cobleskill defense once again struggled to protect the cage on the afternoon allowing Wells a 49-to-31 advantage in shots while allowing The Express to score on 5-of-12 man up situations. The visitors also struggled to control the ball throughout the contest committing 20 turnovers on the afternoon.
 
Junior attackman Sean Degnan, Monroe, N.Y., Monroe-Woodbury High School, led the team in scoring with four goals and an assist while junior attackman Garrett Vigrass, Wallkill, N.Y., Wallkill High School, turned in a solid all-around effort with two goals, two assists and 12 ground balls in the game.  
 
The Fighting Tigers will conclude their weekend road trip on Sunday when the travel to Manchester, Vt. to meet the Eagles of Green Mountain College in non-league play in a game to be played at Burr and Burton Academy beginning at 1:00 p.m.
