Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's softball team concluded their North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) home stand on Tuesday afternoon losing a doubleheader to the Wolves of Keuka College at Fighting Tiger Park by scores of 6-2 and 6-3. With the losses the Fighting Tigers fall to 7-16 overall including a 3-11 mark in NEAC action while the Wolves move to 13-7 overall including a 10-2 record in league action.
In the opener five Fighting Tiger errors led to three unearned runs for the Wolves once again negating a solid pitching outing by freshman lefty Rachel Hall, Greenwich, N.Y., Greenwich High School, who went seven innings allowing three earned runs striking out two and walking no one.
In the second game with Cobleskill trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning with two outs junior shortstop Nichol Flint, Union Springs, N.Y., Cato-Meridian High School/Monroe Community College, blasted a homer to left center field to tie things up at three.
However in the top of the sixth the Wolves broke the game open when sophomore shortstop Jessie Hammers, Wayland, N.Y., Wayland-Cochcton High School, slapped a ball to the left field fence with two runners on for a three-run inside the park home run to decide the issue.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday April 27 when they travel to Morrisville, N.Y. for a NEAC doubleheader versus the Mustangs of Morrisville State College beginning at 3:00 p.m.
