Cobleskill Women Fall to Carlton College 12-0 & Hamilton College 9-4 in Florida

Clermont, Fla.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's softball team dropped a pair of games on their third day of play at the 2019 The Spring Games losing by a 12-0 margin to the Knights of Carlton College from Northfield, Minn. then closing out the day with a 9-4 loss to the Continentals of Hamilton College. With the defeats the Fighting Tigers are now 0-6 overall on the season.

In the first game the Knights scored early and often to put the contest away as the Fighting Tigers could manage only three hits on the afternoon while Carlton pounded out 12 runs on 14 hits versus Cobleskill hurlers.

Sophomore first baseman Rachel Hall, Greenwich, N.Y., Greenwich High School, was 1-for-1 with a walk in the game while sophomore designated hitter Edyliese Aquino, Stamford, Conn., Westhill High School, was 1-for-2 at the plate for the Fighting Tigers.

In the nightcap, the Hamilton offense controlled the early portion of the game scoring seven runs in the first two innings to effectively decide the contest. Continental hitters touched up Cobleskill pitchers for 15 hits on the afternoon.

At the plate, the Fighting Tiger batting order was led by the trio of designated hitter Edyliese Aquino who went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a run scored, freshman center fielder Jillian Nitchman, Ballston Spa, N.Y., Ballston Spa High School, who was 2-for-2 with a RBI and by senior left fielder Mackenzie Holbert Sauquoit, N.Y., New Hartford High School/Herkimer Community College, who went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a RBI.
