Keuka Park, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's lacrosse team's road struggles continued on Saturday afternoon as the Fighting Tigers fell to the host Wolves of Keuka College by a 15-6 margin in a hard hitting North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 2-6 overall including a 0-2 record in league play while the Wolves improve to 5-3 overall with a 2-0 mark in league action.
The league leading Wolves jumped out early on the Fighting Tigers taking a 7-1 lead into the locker room at the half. But Cobleskill rallied in the second half and at the end of the third period had cut the deficit to 9-4 heading into the fourth.
However that was a close as the Orange & Black would get as the Wolves used their home turf advantage and depth to outscore the visitors 6-2 in the final stanza to secure the win.
Sophomore midfielder Ian Eckert, Rochester, N.Y., Irondequoit High School, led the team in scoring with a pair of goals on the afternoon while senior attackman Sean Degnan, Monroe, N.Y., Monroe-Woodbury High School, added a goal and an assist.
Defensively, Fighting Tiger senior goalkeeper
Willie Wilson, Geneva, N.Y., Geneva High School/Tompkins-Cortland Community College, turned in a solid effort in the net with 20 saves, four ground balls and a caused turnover on the afternoon.
Cobleskill will return to action on Wednesday April 10
th when they host the Wildcats from SUNY Polytechnic Institute with face-off scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
