Marcy, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tiger men's cross country team opened the 2019 season in impressive fashion by posting a team score of 90 points to place third overall in a field of 13 teams at the SUNY Poly Short Course Invitational hosted by the Wildcats of the SUNY Polytechnic Institute on their campus cross country course.
Sophomore
Dillon VanDemortel, Newark, N.Y., Newark High School, led the hungry pack of Fighting Tigers posting his sixth career invitational victory by covering the soggy 6000-meter course in a time of 19:19.2 to better the field of 123 runners followed by teammates sophomore
Jared Craw, Colonie, N.Y., Colonie High School/Hudson Valley Community College, who placed eighth overall in a time of 20:18.0 and sophomore
Nick Merando, Cortlandt Manor, N.Y., Walter Panas High School, who placed 23
rd in 21:40.4.
Cobleskill also received scoring efforts from freshman
Tucker Skowyra, Hardwick, Mass., Quabbin Regional High School, who recorded a 26
th place finish in a time of 21:52.4 and freshman
Christopher Bruen, Jefferson Valley, N.Y., Lakeland High School, who finished in 34
th overall in a time of 22:06.4.
The Orange & Black received displacement efforts from freshman
Jorge Garcia, Copake, N.Y., Taconic Hills High School, who placed 51
st overall in 22:52.1 and freshman
Andrew Hahn, Schoharie, N.Y., Schoharie High School, who finished in 77
th place with a mark of 23:50.9.
The Fighting Tigers will return to action on Saturday September 7
th when they host their 2019 Steven A. Warde Invitational on their campus cross country course beginning at 11:00 a.m.
