SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tiger Recap for the Week of October 3, 2021


Running against an impressive inter-regional field which included five national ranked and 16 regionally ranked programs from six different states; the SUNY Cobleskill men's cross country team posted a score of 334 points to place ninth overall in a field of 35 teams at the 40th Annual Mike Woods Invitational hosted SUNY Geneseo at the National Warplane Museum on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Eamonn Sullivan, Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Fordham Preparatory School, placed 22nd overall in a field of 404-runners by completing the 8000-meter course in a time of 25:26.0.

The Fighting Tiger women's volleyball team won two-of-three North Atlantic Conference (NAC) home matches during the week losing to SUNY Delhi on Wednesday 3-1 by set scores of 25-21, 14-25, 17-25 and 17-25 prior to defeating SUNY Canton on Saturday 3-0 by scores of 25-11, 25-16 and 25-11 and Cazenovia College on Sunday 25-7. 25-19 and 25-19 to improve to 6-9 overall on the season including a 2-1 record in NAC action. Sophomore middle hitter Alexis Miranda, Nashua, N.H., Nashua High School, averaged 2.3 kills per contest during the week for the Orange & Black in 10 sets played.

Competing as an individual against an impressive inter-regional field including five national ranked and 16 regionally ranked programs from six different states; freshman Jenna Swyers, Peru, N.Y., Peru High School, was the SUNY Cobleskill women's cross country team's top finisher at the 40th Annual Mike Woods Invitational hosted SUNY Geneseo at the National Warplane Museum on Saturday morning. The Fighting Tiger first-year runner placed 258th overall in the field of 306 runners by completing the 6000-meter course in a time of 28:04.0. 

The men's soccer team suffered a pair of losses during the week falling on the road to Skidmore College on Wednesday in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. by a 6-0 margin then losing at SUNY Polytechnic Institute on Saturday in NAC play also by a 6-0 tally. With the defeats the Fighting Tigers are currently 2-8 overall including a 1-3 record in conference play.
